This case study is an illustrative scenario built from the kind of SaaS revenue recognition work we do — not a specific named client. We’ll publish real, named client stories here as they go live.
B2B SaaS Company — Automated ASC 606 revenue recognition
The Challenge
A B2B SaaS company with a mix of subscription, usage-based, and multi-year contracts was recognizing revenue manually in spreadsheets. Every contract amendment, upgrade, or mid-term change meant re-working the schedule by hand, and the finance team couldn't close confidently without a multi-day manual review before every audit.
The Solution
We implemented NetSuite's revenue recognition management module, mapping contract terms to automated recognition schedules that update on their own when a subscription is upgraded, downgraded, or amended. Deferred revenue reporting and audit trails were configured so the finance team could produce ASC 606-compliant schedules on demand instead of rebuilding them each period.
The Results
Revenue recognition schedules now update automatically on contract changes
Manual spreadsheet-based recognition process eliminated
Audit prep time cut significantly with built-in, exportable audit trails
"Usage-based and multi-year contracts are where spreadsheet-based revenue recognition breaks down fastest. Automating the schedule itself is what actually holds up under audit."
