How Long Does a NetSuite Implementation Really Take?

Suiteley Team · August 1, 2026 · 6 min

Every prospective NetSuite customer asks the same question first: how long is this actually going to take? The honest answer is “it depends” — but that’s not a satisfying place to leave it, so here’s the framework we actually use to scope timelines.

The variables that matter most

  • Number of modules in scope. A financials-only implementation moves faster than one that also includes inventory, manufacturing, or ecommerce integrations.
  • Data complexity. Clean data from a modern system migrates in days. Ten years of inconsistent spreadsheets takes weeks of cleansing before it ever touches a sandbox.
  • Number of integrations. Every connected system (CRM, ecommerce, payroll, EDI) adds testing surface area.
  • Internal team availability. Implementations stall most often not because of the vendor, but because the client’s internal stakeholders can’t free up time for discovery and UAT.

A directional range

For a single-entity business implementing financials plus one or two core modules, 3-4 months from kickoff to go-live is realistic. Multi-entity, multi-module, integration-heavy projects commonly run 5-8 months. Anything quoted at a flat “6 weeks” regardless of scope should be treated with skepticism.

What actually speeds things up

Clear ownership on the client side, a single decision-maker empowered to approve scope, and data that’s been cleaned before discovery even starts. The single biggest time sink we see is going back to fix data issues that could have been caught in week one.

If you want a scoped timeline instead of a range, talk to a NetSuite consultant — we’ll give you a number based on your actual environment, not a template.
